  • ABOUT YLA
San Diego Pride is proud to host the annual Pride Youth Leadership Academy (YLA). YLA was created to bring LGBTQIA2+ youth together from across the region to engage, educate, and inspire our next generation of leaders. Folks who attend YLA come away with the practical skills and committed passion to become agents of change within their own schools and communities.

YLA is a fun, inclusive, and intense academy that includes historical context, LGBTQIA2+ resource education, organizing skills, panel discussions, and team-building activities that inform and motivate participants to be successful in all they do.

    Date: November 16th, 2024
    Time: 8:45 AM-3:30 PM
Location: ECC (Educational Cultural Complex), 4343 Ocean View Blvd, San Diego, CA 92113

  • YOUTH TRACKS
There are two tracks for YLA youth attendees:

Middle School: This track teaches young people the basics of social movements and engagement through a fun and interactive lens, and teaches younger teens how to hone their unique skills and voices.
High School: This track helps youth understand their place within the greater cultural/political landscape, and will help high schoolers map out a future they want to live in.

Regardless of which track you would like to attend, please start your registration below. Answer the questions to the best of your ability, and feel free to answer "N/A" to anything you don't want to answer. We look forward to the best Youth Leadership Academy yet!

  • YOUNG ADULT (TAY) TRACK
Congratulations, you're an adult! Now, what?

This track is specifically for young adults (also referred to as transitional aged-youth) ages 18-24. We will focus on your personal and professional development while addressing the unique challenges faced by young adults in today's social and political climate. This is also a space for young adults to connect, build community, and find solidarity with each other.

  • ADULT (PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/EDUCATORS) APPLICANTS
As adults, it is our job to advocate for and uplift the needs of LGBTQIA+ youth. However, more adults are finding themselves burnt out and frustrated as advocacy becomes increasingly challenging. This track is designed to help you understand current issues, parental and educator rights, and increase the tools at your disposal in order to better support the youth in your life, as well as yourself.
