ART OF PRIDE SAN DIEGO - A PROGRAM OF SAN DIEGO PRIDE
  • Art of Pride is seeking creative rebels to join our planning committee—someone who sees art as a form of resistance and healing. If you can transform $50 and pure vision into a transformative event, understand art as survival, and are committed to amplifying marginalized LGBTQIA+ voices, this is for you. We seek lived experience and dedication to collective liberation. Your passion matters more than your resume.

    About Art of Pride

Since 2005, Art of Pride has been dedicated to creating opportunities for LGBTQIA+ artists. Founded by community activists Judy Forman and John Keasler, our program provides a platform for local artists to express themselves and connect with the community.

We offer LGBTQIA+ artists space at the San Diego Pride Festival to showcase and sell their work. We've also created opportunities for featured artists to exhibit their pieces at Pride's North Park office. Additionally, we've developed free business development workshops to help artists build sustainable careers and understand the professional side of their creative practice.

In 2020, we became an official program of San Diego Pride, expanding our commitment to supporting and celebrating local LGBTQIA+ artists.

Our goal is simple: give artists a place to be seen, heard, and empowered.

    Our Mission

Art of Pride is a volunteer cooperative of LGBTQIA+ artists and allies centering on the diverse experiences of LGBTQIA+ artists and the artwork they create. We highlight and celebrate the spectrum of artists of color, women artists, transgender, nonbinary, and intersex artists, as well as intergenerational art. Together, through our art, we foster community connection, combat homophobia and transphobia, and provide education through workshops to uplift San Diego's LGBTQIA+ art communities.

About the Art of Pride Committee

Members of the Art of Pride Program Committee will play a crucial role in the development and expansion of Art of Pride Programming throughout the year, including our current programming (such as our quarterly Artist Exhibits and Receptions at the Pride Office, partner show spaces, or the Art of Pride area at the Pride Festival) as well as expanding into new programming areas like holding art workshops, free training & development opportunities for LGBTQIA+ Artists, or maintaining an archive of San Diego LGBTQIA+ Art.

    About the Committee Member Role

Committee Members should expect to commit at least 2-4 hours/MONTH for regular Committee Meetings plus any additional time supporting specific initiatives, subcommittees, or events. Art of Pride will be offering year-round programming. Every year during June and July, we ramp up to celebrate in the San Diego Pride Festival. Commitment will include planning, marketing, organizing, setup/breakdown of the festival, and representing at the Art of Pride engagement table.

If you're interested in joining the committee as a committee member, please complete the form below, and a member of the committee will contact you to join our next meeting.
